Farizal Farhan is a qualified Malaysian lawyer. He has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons) degree from University of Warwick, United Kingdom and the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP). He had previously served as Corporate Partner in two (2) prominent law firms in Malaysia and served as in-house counsel at a number of organisations such as Hess Oil & Gas Sdn. Bhd. (a subsidiary of Hess Corporation), Avocet Mining (M) OHQ Sdn. Bhd. (a subsidiary of Avocet Mining PLC), PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). He was also special advisor to the Group Chief Executive Officer of Worldwide Holdings Berhad.
Farizal practises in energy, infrastructure and projects, and in mergers and acquisitions. He advises developers, listed companies, government-linked and state entities on gas-fired, solar, biomass, waste-to-energy and petrochemical projects, and on upstream and downstream oil and gas. His work spans the project lifecycle, from land and concession matters through EPC and EPCC contracts, power purchase and offtake arrangements and project financing, to claims and contract management. On the corporate side, he acts on acquisitions of project companies and operating businesses, joint ventures, restructurings, due diligence, regulatory and licensing, and corporate governance.
Farizal has negotiated contracts with known international brands such as Technip, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Honeywell, MASDAR, BYD, General Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, ThyssenKrupp, Yokogawa, Lactalis, Nestle, Korea Electric Power Corporation, and Shell.
